When it comes to gingerbread houses, to each her own. There’s no right way to make them (Unless we’re talking gingerbread recipes, then there’s a few basics you have to follow & we’ll get to that).
You could buy a gingerbread house kit, with premade gingerbread panels, one step icing mix & all the fixings, but for some people those kits destroy their flare. So what makes a gingerbread house a gingerbread home? Individuality.
Gingerbread homes should be specific to their builder. Their design should reflect all the things you like, not just what a kit provides. Candy is the go to decoration & you should use your favorites.
& What holiday just left us all endowed with too much candy? Halloween. That’s right: Halloween candy is your new gingerbread decor.
To make a gingerbread house from scratch, you’ll need:
- Sturdy Gingerbread House Dough
- Royal Icing
- A platter (to build on)
- Candy!
If you, like me, don’t want to make your own Gingerbread sheets, most Gingerbread House Kits have premade panels & icing mix. Even if you buy a kit, I highly recommend adding your own personal flare to make that house really feel like home.
It’s a short post this week.
